BALANCE.
Okay, let’s talk about the art of balance and getting back on track. We’re about to get personal. In my previous 5am article, I briefly touched on the fact that our day is naturally split into 8 hours of sleep, 8 hours of work, 8 hours of free time. I want to take a deep dive into this concept, because it’s something I feel determined to master. If you haven’t read that article yet - start there and come back!
So much of my time and mental capacity is geared towards work. There’s nothing wrong with this, but I do feel like I woke up one day and realized I didn’t know who I was, what my hobbies were, or what I enjoyed doing in my free time outside of my career. I’ve been working to get back on track - to explore life with myself, create memories that only belong to me, and revisit how much I truly love myself and the life I’ve built. I refuse to reach the end of my life just to realize I should’ve enjoyed it much sooner.
A few weeks ago my sister gave me the idea of creating a 20 day challenge for ourselves (thanks, Kenz!). What better way to get back on track and recognize where our life-balance is lacking, than to literally write it out for ourselves? I took time to make a list of everything I’d like to be doing more within the realms of self care, fitness, health, and hobbies. Learning that we can enjoy our time before, during, and after our work days is a surprisingly difficult lesson to learn, at least for me. This challenge will not only be a guideline for how I want to use those 8 hours of free time, but a way for me to hold myself accountable in getting back on track.
My 20 day challenge.
6:30am wakeup on weekdays
Green juice every morning
Journal or meditate daily
10 pages of The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari daily
If you haven’t read this - it’ll change your life. Just trust me.
Pilates, yoga, or walk daily
No processed sugars
Maximum 2 cups of coffee daily
Try one new hobby / activity a day
Okay, quick side note to expand upon my last self-assignment, Am I the only person who saves Tiktoks and Instagram posts either for inspiration or because it’s something you’d like to try? Because these are coming in handy now. Starting from the top, everyday I’m going to try or draw inspiration from one of my saved Tiktoks whether it’s a recipe I’ve been wanting to try, journal prompt, a cute outfit to replicate, a new hairstyle, etc. Each day, I’m going to try one of these things that stuck out to me, so every single day I’m trying something new.
I encourage you to create your own 20 day challenge, or use mine if it speaks to you. Lets get back on track together. Hopefully this article helped at least one person, besides myself, remember that above all, life is meant to be an intentional human experience filled with the things that make us happiest.
Love you guys ♡
