5AM.

Okay, so hear me out. you need to start waking up at 5am.

I’m fully aware that’s a terrifying sentence and you’re probably thinking something along the lines of “no thanks, I’ll pass” - give me a sec to convince you otherwise.

I was feeling a huge lack of personal motivation for a while and honestly wasn’t finding time in my days to take time for the things i’m passionate about. I don’t know about anyone else, but something about working a 9-5 uses so. much. energy. When I get home from work I want a glass of red wine and a major Netflix moment. Relaxing? Yes. Fulfilling? No. What i’d like to be doing? Pilates, journaling, reading a self help book, working on my blog, meditating, praying, and sprinkle a little self-care into there, too. This is where 5am comes in.

Here’s a really simple yet powerful realization I had this morning - our days are naturally structured. We have an ENTIRE 24 hours every single day - 8 hours of sleep, 8 hours of work, and 8 hours of absolutely whatever we want to do. We have equal time to work, to sleep, and essentially, to play. It’s about maximizing that time and doing the things you love when you feel most energized and excited to do them.

So, waking up at 5:00am gives me an entire 3.5 hours of time dedicated to no one other than myself. Time to work towards my goals, be unbothered by my phone, and prepare to start my day on a positive note. You know who’s awake at 5am? Literally no one. There’s no obligation or interruption coming from one of our biggest obsessions - our phones. I still get my little Netflix moment and glass of wine at the end of my day, but this way I can be a girl who does both.
